Practice Manager

Hi, I am Patricia Lee (Trish)

I have over 30 years experience within the NHS Primary Care and have gained extensive knowledge of a wide range of roles within a GP Surgery. These roles include Reception, Medical Secretary, Auditing, Patient Liaison Officer, through to a Practice Manager with 10 years experience. My Practice Manager role was based in a semi-rural, single-handed GP Practice with a 4,000 Patient list size, Dispensary and auxiliary Staff members. I began the PM role by enrolling on many courses myself, to gain as much knowledge with CQRS, QOF, Health & Safety, Discipline & Primary Care Law, Appraisal Training and many more. I found that my passion was to support and help all staff to develop and gain qualifications making our Surgery one of true professionalism which was reflected in our achievements. A mostly new Dispensing team was employed and various courses were completed by all members of staff. The DDA (Dispensing Doctors Association) was duly joined successfully. With my previous experience, I understand the difficult challenges ahead for any new PM. I have many years experience with both EMIS Web and Systmone more latterly. I enjoy helping colleagues and I am always keen to share my experiences from the years which I have been working within the ever changing NHS. Over the last few months (Since October 2022) I have been working as a Turnaround PM with the ICB by supporting Practices to prepare for CQC re-visits, which I am enjoying. I am ensuring that all Policies, Protocols and SOP's are up to date but most importantly they are embedded within the Practice, producing evidence to support this. Also Safeguarding has been a key area which I have been focussing on too, supporting Patients and involving the whole Team in regular documented monthly meetings. I am also working closely with PCN's in this new support role which is giving Patients better care, one of the key points for the CQC. Please do contact me if you would like to set up a meeting. I would be very happy to provide any support for you. Being a Practice Manager can be a very lonely role even a meet up over a coffee often helps to share the load and look at a problem in a different way. Away from work I am extremely active and regularly swim, walk, cycle and I enjoy kayaking in the River Colne, which is close to my home. Also I am a voluntary reader with the local Colchester & District Talking Newspapers for the Blind. I joined this group in 2009 and became a regular reader and currently I record the 'What's on' & 'Family announcements' articles for our listeners on a monthly/ad hoc basis.
