Nice to meet you! I have been a Practice Manager in Essex for the past 21 years. I didn't intend it to be that way, I was on a one year contract, but once you're in General Practice it has you hooked! Originally I trained as an RN and worked in Neonatal intensive care, moving on to gynaecology ahead of working in the USA as a Nurse. Whilst in the USA I moved into healthcare management and completed an MBA. When I finally moved back to the UK I continued working in healthcare management as Managing Director for a private healthcare company. No other role is quite like that of a PM though! It is so varied that there is always something new to learn, a new challenge around the corner and constantly changing NHS processes. Over the 21 years, I hope that I have gained some valuable knowledge and skills that might be of use to you if you need a friendly chat over a cup of tea as you're struggling with an issue, a sounding board to bounce ideas around with or just someone to point you in the right direction to find help and support with more complex issues.
